Lately, due to the competitive nature of the UK broadband market and the fact that everyone is starting to sell an ADSL service I.e. Supermarkets and The Post Office even, the quality of service has greatly deteriorated. Then, on top of that the ISP will often deny there is a fault.

If you have ever had to deal with such a problem yourself, you will know that the usual call centre spiel goes like this:

“Your router must be faulty, change it and try again or the extensions and filters must be damaged replace them and then try again” – “the problem must be internal its all fine from our end”

It’s enough to make you want to go back to dial up!

And why do they do this? – So they can overcharge customers for call out charges and repairs – Have a quick think, how many people and businesses do you know that have overpaid for a broadband repair call out?

Did you know a standard call out for a residential customer from BT is a minimum of £135?

Did you know a standard call out for a business customer from BT is a minimum of £275?

That’s without the extra hour the engineers spends on site (£95) or if you’re not in when the engineer calls, you will be charged the standard call out fee and an extra fee of at least £50.


Recently, due to the world and his wife providing ADSL / 2 / 2+ broadband, I.e. The Post Office, Tesco, Talk Talk, Sky ect ect the quality of service has greatly deteriorated.
